East Riding Crematorium – Have you Say!
Following concerns raised at a the Full Council meeting on Wednesday 29th July regarding the process which to East Riding of Yorkshire Council will follow to plan and potentially build a new Crematorium in Holderness, Councillor Birch and Councillor Dennis have written to the Director of Communities and Environment.
Cllr Birch requested that a full and in-depth consultation takes place to ensure that every one is heard and listened to.
Cllr Birch said “The public consultation process on this project should not just be a box ticking exercise. The views, opinions and concerns of residents and Parish/ Town Councils from across Holderness need to be taken into account.”
“The East Riding Crematorium project will be fantastic for the local economy and should bring jobs to the area but it needs to be done in consultation with those who it immediately affects. Holderness residents have gone without a crematorium near to them for some time now and this project will change that.”
Below is a table of what suggestions Councillor Birch made and what East Riding of Yorkshire Council are doing:
Cllr Birch added “I would urge all residents to make their voices heard on this issue. The more people that raise their concerns or support for the plans the more likely we are to have a project that works for everyone, with little negative affects”
“The Council has created a dedicated project website https://bereavementservices.eastriding.gov.uk which includes the opportunity to leave feedback and there will be leaflets in circulation for people to pass their feedback on.“
